2007 Matthiasson Proprietary White Oak Knoll

Matthiasson is a family endeavor, the effort of Steve and Jill Klein Matthiasson and their two young sons. They describe their production as "simple but careful", remaining central to the tradition of viticulture and winemaking - their hands literally touch every vine and bottle. With many years in sustainable agriculture, the Matthiasson's take a farmer's approach to winemaking. Blends are all made in the fields during harvest, with individual picks sometimes consisting of only 20 to 30 vines. They taste the fruit and determine proportions based on the vintage. In addition to tending his own vineyards, Steve works as a vineyard consultant for Araujo, Spottswoode, Chappellet, David Arthur, Stag's Leap and other vineyards throughout Napa and Sonoma.
